Volcanoes are one of the earth most exciting natural phenomenons, and you might not be aware, but they’re dotted all around the world and represents some of the most beautiful sights on the planet. If you’re looking for your next adventure and want to add the live experience of visiting a volcano, here are 4 of the most famous places to see one.


Mount Fuji

Located in Japan near Tokyo, Mount Fuji is the countries highest mountain at 12,388 ft high. This Volcano is classified as active with a low risk of erupting as its last eruption was recorded in 1708, so it’s commonly climbed by around 200,000 people a year which includes both tourist and locals. Mount Fuji is a beautiful landmark to visit and is commonly used in artwork and photographs all around the world. If you are visiting Japan, this should be the first place you visit as it is unlike any other volcanoes around the world.

Mayon Volcano

This Volcano is the most active in the Philippines, with more than 50 eruptions over the course of 400 years. Often referred to as ‘the perfect cone’ because of its natural shape which includes an average 35/40 degree steep slope, this volcano is likely to be one of the riskier options to experience. The top of this volcano is capped with a small creator which has caused a lot of destruction in the past and now the sides of the mountain are covered in layers in lava and volcanic material.


Kilauea

Kilauea is unlike volcanoes around the world you would expect to see, as it is a fairly low, flat shield volcano ( which are formed by lava flows of low viscosity). Located in Hawaii, this is one of the most active volcanoes on the planet, with 33 eruptions in the past 60 years, which includes the eruption that started in 1983 which is still going to this day. Being able to experience a volcanic eruption on the beautiful island of Hawaii makes this a worthwhile trip.

Mount Vesuvius

Best known for its eruption in AD 79, this lead to the destruction of the cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum and the deaths of over 20,000 people. It has continued to erupt since then and is regarded as one of the world most dangerous volcanoes as there are over 3 million people living in close proximity to it. Interestingly the mountain itself has changed in height due to its eruptions, it currently stands at 4,202 ft. As this mountain is located in Greece it an amazing place to visit with countless activities to do while your this volcano.


There are plenty of other volcanoes around the world to visit and you might even find that there are some which are much more local to you if you're wanting to start off a little smaller before committing a holiday to see one of these wonders of the world.
