But don’t just stay for the nightlife and tasty grub - Osaka has many gorgeous places to visit to show off the city’s history and culture. Osaka Castle

Going back around 450 years this five-storey mega castle is famous throughout Japan, not just Osaka. The castle has been destroyed and rebuilt a number of times and was declared to be a “Historic Site” by the Japanese Government, ensuring it’s protection. For a small fee, you can take in the amazing history of the castle and soak in the gorgeous views from its five storeys and surrounding parks.

 

Umeda Sky Building

If heights don’t bother you (you brave thing), then a visit to the Umeda Sky Building is an absolute must! With a 173-meter observatory, boasting 360-degree views of Osaka - this is the perfect place to get a different view of this amazing city.

 

Pokémon Cafe

Did someone say Pokémon Cafe? No need for more details - take our money! This is the first- ever official Pokémon cafe and whether you’re a fan or not, you won’t be able to get over the cuteness of this place. From a choose-your-own Pokémon latte (stop it) to a Best Friends Forever Curry Plate with Pikachu and a chosen pal (adorable) - there’s nothing like eating delicious food surrounded by your favorite Pokémon characters from your childhood (or adulthood - no judgment here.)

teamLab Osaka

If you want to experience a different type of nightlife, then a visit to teamlab Osaka could be the place for you. Located in Nagai Botanical Garden, teamLab's project, ‘Digitized Nature’ explores how nature can become art and uses digital technology so it doesn’t physically harm any of the trees or plants. With changing projects throughout the seasons, a visit to the Nagai Botanical Gardens is definitely worth a trip.

 

Namba Yasaka Shrine

The Namba Yasaka Shrine is one of the most recognised shrines in Osaka. This is mostly down to the huge 12-meter tall, 11-meter wide lion head. This very distinctive feature is supposed to  swallow evil spirits surrounding you and leave you with good luck for success at work or in school. That’s as good a reason as any to visit this incredible place of worship! Our top tip? Get there early to get photos without all the tourists.

 

Dotonbori

If you want to get the full experience of Osaka’s famous street food culture -  this is the place to go. With a huge variety of vendors and different food to try, everyone who you’re traveling with will find something to delight their taste buds in the bustling area of Osaka. Why not try Takoyaki - a delicious deep-fried savory dish? And don’t forget to get photos of the amazing neon lights for a Blade Runner-esque photoshoot.

 

Bullet Train

When your time in Osaka comes to an end, why not get the famous Shinkansen (Bullet Train) to Tokyo or Hiroshima? While rushing through the Japanese countryside, the only thing you’ll need to remember is your Trtl Pillow. But thanks to the speed of this train - you won’t be able to nap for long!
